Pizza Hut set to become largest pizza business in Ireland

20/04/2008
Pizza Hut - the world's largest pizza restaurant and delivery company - is about to become the biggest pizza business in Ireland. It's extending its business in the Republic through its acquisition of the Godfather's Pizza brand. The deal was completed this week, and will see 28 restaurants being added to Pizza Hut's existing network of 17 stores. This catapults us into the enviable position of being market leader in this area.
Starting in the summer, when the first of the stores will be refitted, the transition will see John and Patrick Cronin - the founders of Godfather's Pizza - becoming Pizza Hut's master franchisees for delivery stores in Ireland. Over the following two years, every store in the country will be rebranded and refurbished.
Commenting on the announcement, Alasdair Murdoch, CEO of Pizza Hut says,
"We have more than 50 years of pizza-making experience and are looking forward to growing our business in Ireland. Having John and Patrick Cronin as our master franchisees for delivery stores is vital, as their experience in the local market will be invaluable."
Commenting on the announcement, John Cronin and Patrick Cronin, Co-Founders of Godfather's Pizza, said:
"We're proud of what Godfather's Pizza has achieved and are delighted to be working with the world's largest pizza brand to develop and expand Pizza Hut within our local market. It is a great opportunity for our current and new franchisees to be part of this global success story. We hope to learn a lot from our new colleagues and are sure our customers will love what Pizza Hut has to offer!"
Pizza Hut continues to develop and expand its network of dine-in restaurants and is investing £millions into its current portfolio in the UK. A country-wide refurbishment programme will see over 100 stores being refurbished by the summer.
