Woodley has only existed since the late 1800's and until the 1930's remained a small village when an airfield and flying school was opened. These were made famous by Douglas Bader, who lost his legs in a flying incident from this airfield. The airfield is now home to the Museum of Berkshire Aviation, which commemorates the areas' aviation history, containing within it some rare exhibits. Now an area of rapid redevelopment, the usual community facilities are available such as football and rugby clubs and also fishing at Southlake Fishery, close to the centre of the town. With Pizza Hut located nearby, you can enjoy a range of pizzas and other Italian food to takeaway or get delivered.
